Started with the jute trading, the Dugars paved the way of exporting jute to Europe, India, Japan and gradually the group became the largest exporter. The group since then moved from strength to strength and never looked back. In 1967 the group commissioned its first industrial venture - The Nepal Straw Board with the idea of using the rice and wheat straw as a raw material to produce straw boards. In the same year, the group also started the production of stainless steel utensils.
In 1970, the Dugar Group took the colossal leap extending its grip in Dhangadi - the first industry to be established in far Western Nepal. The vision had its most important ingredient as food grains and edible oils,. Nepal, after all, is an agricultural economy. Thus the group ventures into rice, dal and solvent plant oil mills and created a history of prosperity. |
